Japanese Agency Offers Accessible Tours for 2020 Paralympics
With the Paralympics coming to Tokyo in 2020, a major Japanese online travel agency has partnered with an accessible travel company, in order to provide visitors with accessible day tours of Tokyo and the surrounding areas. As a result VELTRA – the online travel agency – has a dedicated landing page for the accessible tours at file.veltra.com/en/promotion/asia/japan/tokyo-accessible-tours/.
Tokyo Travel Partners operates these private wheelchair-accessible tours in lift-equipped vans. Says Shigeyuki Kurihara, founder and director of Tokyo Travel Partners, “We believe that the number of barrier-free tours we provide will contribute to positively impacting perspectives about accessibility, leading to a barrier-free awareness.”
“Also, this partnership is a great opportunity to explore the possibility of offering such kind of tours not only in Tokyo, but also all over Japan,” said Mitsuko Takebe, Director of Inbound Retail at VELTRA.
The tours are available for solo travelers as well as small groups, and they include a driver who is certified as a care worker, and and English-speaking guide. Tour offerings include a Kamakura and Enoshima Tour, and a Mt. Fuji, Hakone and Mishima Tour. Customized excursions and airport and port transfers are also available.
