Yad Sarah Aids Disabled Travelers in Israel
Yad Sarah has long been addressing the home and healthcare needs of disabled residents in Israel; but unbeknownst to many Americans, they also offer a unique set of services to disabled travelers visiting the country.
At the top of the list is the free loan of medical equipment to make your visit more accessible. Items available for loan include bed rails, grab bars, commode chairs, bed raisers, walkers, crutches and canes. The items can be delivered to your hotel; and although there is no charge for the equipment, a small deposit and delivery charge is required. Oxygen cylinders and concentrators are also available for loan, but you must provide your own mask and tubing. Reservations for medical equipment should be made three weeks in advance, while oxygen supplies should be reserved at least two weeks in advance.
Accessible transportation to and from Ben Gurion Airport is also available. This service is not available on the Sabbath or holidays and it is subject to vehicle availability. Two weeks notice is required for airport transfers, which are available from most major Israel cities.
