Accessible Parking at Smithsonian
I’m hoping to catch an exhibit at the Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian) and I’m wondering about the availability of accessible parking there. I could take the metro, but I’m not sure that my mother could manage the two block walk to the gallery. Unfortunately the folks at the gallery were no help in providing any information about accessible parking. Do you have any suggestions?
Unfortunately there is no accessible parking near the Renwick Gallery. Generally speaking, accessible parking in Washington DC is hard to come by; and in most cases it’s much easier to take public transportation.
I suggest that you take the Metro, and then make arrangements for an accessible taxi to pick you up at the station and take you to the Renwick Gallery. Yellow Cab (www.dcyellowcab.com/) has accessible vehicles, and you can book them in advance. Additionally, when the taxi drops you off at the gallery, it’s a good idea to make arrangements for your pick-up.
