Wheelchair- Accessible Capri and Pompeii Shore Excursions
Although Pompeii and Capri are far from barrier-free, Tredy Tours now offers wheelchair-users and slow walkers a way to explore a portion of both sights. The Capri shore excursion can be taken from Naples or Sorrento, and includes accessible transfers to and from Capri, and tickets to the cable car which has lift and ramp access. A taxi tour of the island is also included, but since there are no lift-equipped taxis there, this part of the tour can only be completed if you can walk a few steps and transfer to the taxi seat. The tour lasts six or seven hours, and includes plenty of time to shop and look around on your own.
The Pompeii tour includes transfers to the site in a lift-equipped van, plus a customized accessible tour of the ruins. The tour centers around the amphitheater area, where most of the buildings are accessible. This tour can also be booked without the transfers, if you’d prefer to take the train from the port. If that’s the case, be aware that the two entrances to Pompeii that are close to the train station are not accessible, so it’s best to take a taxi to the accessible entrance.
