Beach Wheelchairs in Trinidad & Tobago
Thanks to a collaborative effort between the Tourism Development Company (TDC), the Ministry of Tourism Life Guard Service Division and the National Centre for Persons with Disabilities, four amphibious beach wheelchairs are now available at Trinidad’s Maracas Beach. There is no cost to use the beach wheelchairs, and lifeguards will help people get into the water and stay with them while they use the equipment. This new service is part of a continued effort to make the country a more attractive and accessible destination for people with disabilities. Says Yolande V. Selman, Acting CEO of TDC, “This is not only a tourism first for destination Trinidad and Tobago, but a first for our nation’s citizens who live with disabilities.”
