easyJet to Begin Using On-Board Wheelchairs
Earlier this year, budget British air carrier easyJet announced that they would begin outfitting their aircraft with on-board wheelchairs. According to Carolyn McCall, easyJet’s CEO, the airline is phasing out manual assistance and switching to on-board wheelchairs for movement to and from the lavatories. The on-board wheelchairs will be available on all aircraft, beginning in September 2014. Aircraft with new cabin interiors will also be outfitted with movable armrests on all seats.
