ADA Fines Raised
On March 28, 2014 the Department of Justice released a final rule that raises the fines for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations assessed or enforced by the Civil Division. The increase was made to adjust for inflation, and applies to all Title III cases, where the violations occur on or after April 28, 2014. The maximum civil penalty for a first violation was increased from $55,000 to $75,000. Subsequent violations are now capped at $150,000.
