New Wheelchair-Accessible Toilets Debut in UK
The Manchester Airport is the newest site for the installation of a Changing Places suite, a new high needs accessible family restroom. Each suite includes a ceiling track lift with ample room on each side of the toilet for an attendant, fold-down grab bars, an adjustable changing table and a roll-under sink. The facility is designed for people who find it difficult to use standard accessible restrooms, and it will ultimately make the airport more accessible. There’s one Changing Places suite in each of the airport’s three terminals, with access controlled via a telephone next to each suite.
Changing Places suites are also available at over 700 other locations across the United Kingdom, including Heathrow and Gatwick airports. For more information about the Changing Places suite, or to locate one near you, visit www.changing-places.org.
