Wheelchair-Accessible Japan Resource
The Japan Accessible Tourism Center (JATC) is a non-profit organization that provides access information on a variety of destinations throughout the country. The website includes access details on transportation, hotels and attractions on 30 Japanese cities. The transportation section offers access information on trains, buses and rental car locations; and includes a list of accessible rail stops and access information about airports. The lodging section features information on hotels that have accessible rooms, and has links to photos of some of the accessible rooms. The attractions are rated as “partially accessible”, “mostly accessible” or “all wheelchair-accessible”, and each listing includes a description of the access obstacles. And for a good idea about what access is really like in Japan, visit the FAQ section. JATC can also provide assistance with accessible hotel and taxi bookings.
