German National Tourist Board Launches Accessible Travel Database
A new accessible travel database launched by the The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) makes finding accessible lodging, attractions and transportation throughout Germany easier for disabled travelers. Tourism for All allows travelers to search a wide range of facilities throughout Germany, by category, location and specific access criteria. The search not only returns accessible facilities that meet the user’s criteria, but it also includes a map that shows the location of the facilities.
Each company included in the Tourism for All database has been inspected for access with criteria developed by the German Seminar for Tourism and Tourism for All Germany. The access criteria is clearly defined on the website, making it easier for travelers to find accommodations, attractions and transportation that fits their specific access needs. According to Petra Hedorfer of the GNTB, Travel for All was launched with over 1,500 fully certified barrier-free service providers, and they hope to expand the database on an ongoing basis.
