Wheelchair Accessible Germany Travel Resources
I want to travel to Germany next summer, and I would like to start out in Berlin. Do you have any idea where I can rent an accessible van so I can tour the country on my own? Also, any accessibility resources in Berlin would be greatly appreciated.
Germany is an excellent choice for an accessible vacation, as the German National Tourist Office has been very proactive in promoting the accessibility of their country. In fact, they have an excellent resource which lists barrier-free tourist options throughout Germany on their website at https://www.germany.travel/en/accessible-germany/accessible-travel.html
I would also contact Paravan (www.paravan.de) to see if they can arrange for a wheelchair-accessible van that meets your specifications. They are headquartered in Germany, but they also have a US toll free number (844-887-0723) for inquiries.
Finally I would reach out to Accamino (www.accamino.de) — a local incoming tourist agency — if you’d like some assistance booking accessible hotels and tours in Berlin. They really are the local experts.
Have a great trip!
