Looking for an Accessible Family Reunion Venue
My nephew is four years old and uses a manual wheelchair. We’re trying to plan a family reunion for next summer, and we’d love a place with a pool. We are based in Florida and my nephew loves the water. We have 36 people in our extended family, and I’d really appreciate any suggestions you may have about an accessible venue. I don’t even know where to start.
Since you are based in Florida, why not consider a cruise? These days the major cruise lines have gone all out to make all aspects of their ships accessible — including the water play areas. Additionally, most of the major cruise lines have kids programs, and with a little advance notice they can tailor things to meet your nephew’s needs. And that gives the kids time to play, and the adults time to visit, or just lounge by the pool. Plus you never have to worry about food on a cruise, as there’s a wide selection available.
You can also save some money when you cruise in a large group. On most lines you’ll earn credit towards your own cruise by booking as few as eight cabins. And you can use the credit yourself or pass it along to members of your group — the choice is entirely yours. So, contact the group department at your favorite cruise line and see what they can do for you.
